The project culminated in an hour long performance of a new work by Larry Goves with the house of bedlam and David Sheppard. The performance reflected elements of the installation and was written, in part, using ideas and processes discovered during the development period. the house of bedlam performed the new work, incorporating the new instruments, in the foyer of the new Hoffmann building. These sound were sent to an open-air surround system where David processed, mixed and improvised with these sounds.

sound rebound

SOUND REBOUND was an installation by Larry Goves and David Sheppard made for the Aldeburgh Festival 2009. The project was commissioned by Aldeburgh Education/LAB research technology residencies. We designed and built three new physical and two new digital instruments based around specific features of the instruments within the house of bedlam. These sounds sent into a separate room with a surround-sound setup where the instruments could be mixed and put through a unique series of reverbs. These included the inside of a cello and saxophone and more eccentric reverb sounds.
